Yes, we are definitely those parents who take a million photos of their kid. She’s just so darn cute, at least when sleeping. :)
So it’s been three weeks and I think we are finally starting to get the hang of this, at least to the point where we get some sleep and don’t look too frazzled trying to figure out what’s wrong every time she cries. Although I’m sure we will still be resorting to car rides and running the shower to calm and put her to sleep for a while.
It is amazing how much they change over such a short period of time. She is really starting to focus and be much more responsive to the world around her and she now wakes us up when she’s hungry instead of us having to pester her in to eating.
While she hasn’t regained her birth weight yet, the doctors say she is gaining weight well, so she doesn’t need any supplements or anything. She’s starting to look like she has a bit of fat on her again, which is reassuring. They are hoping she will be her birthweight by next Monday. In general they like babies to be their birth weight by two weeks, but she lost so much and we had some challenges with breastfeeding, so things are looking good now. Oh, and for those frustrated new mothers out there, yes it does take over 2 weeks to get the hang of breastfeeding, esp when every nurse and doctor has a different view. My recommendation, learn as much as you can about it before the baby is born so when people start telling you 50 different things, you at least have something to compare it to.
Happy 3 weeks Brynn!
