Christmas Fun

Before heading to Duncan for Oma, great Opa, Gpa and other visits, Brynn and I went shopping for one of the local toy drives.

Last year when she was two (and things were really tight) she was allowed to pick out 5 hot wheels cars for the other kids and one for herself. Being two it was a bit hard to explain why she didn't get anything, so I let her get one. This year, I was able to explain a bit better and told her she did not get to pick out any for her, because these were for kids who won't get toys. Of course, she needed to know why they wouldn't get any toys because Santa would still give them some if they were good. I explained that Santa is very busy and can only get one toy for each kid, so we were going to help them get a few more, because it's fun to have a toy for your friend to play with when they come over. Brynn diligently picked out 5 cars and mom picked out a lego robot. She then looked at our selections and said "we need more... these are for other kids mom." Of course. So I told her she could pick out one more toy because mom only had enough money for one more. This required walking up and down the aisles inspecting before she settled on a fairy doll.

It worked out to be just enough toys to fit in her arms so she was able to drop them off all by herself.

Then of course we all headed up to Oma's and started off with a little Christmas eve croquet.
Then, on to Christmas morning. Brynn was actually really good and got up just before 8 am. I was helping her in the bathroom and trying to answer all her questions "Did Santa come? Did he leave presents? Did he put stuff in the stockings? Can we open them?" So I told her we would have to go ask dad. She said ok and then went into the room turned on the overhead light and started yelling that it was time to open presents. Poor Mike, he was asleep until that point. Bit of a rough waking up.

This year was definitely a fun year though, she got a marble racer, dress-up clothes, a fort in a bag kit from Uncle Scott and Sam, a digital camera and some great books and games.

Of course, one of the best parts of getting swords, is playing knights, which Brynn calls pirates.
Every time you got killed you had to have a hug to make you all better.
Princess pirates were popular as well. :)
